The material composition of artificial turf
Artificial turf uses plastic and synthetic fibers as the core material, and simulates the shape and performance of natural grass through biomimetic design:
Grass silk material:
Polyethylene (PE): accounting for over 60%, it has become mainstream due to its soft touch and natural grass color, especially suitable for scenes such as football fields and kindergartens.
Polypropylene (PP): The fiber is relatively hard and has slightly weaker wear resistance. It is commonly used in low-frequency sports fields such as tennis courts and playgrounds.
Nylon: The first generation of artificial grass fiber, soft but prone to aging, is now commonly used for high-end landscape decoration.
Backing system:
Base layer: composed of compacted soil layer, gravel layer, and asphalt/concrete layer to ensure site leveling and drainage.
Buffer layer: 3-5mm rubber or 5-10mm foam plastic is used to provide shock absorption and rebound performance.
Grass layer: The grass fibers are sewn with PP mesh fabric using a grass weaving machine, and then fixed with styrene butadiene rubber composite. The height of the grass fibers is usually 10-60mm.
